Save Energy & Money With This Free Program!

Xcel Energy and CenterPoint Energy have teamed up to offer a program to property owners that helps them find ways to make their properties more energy efficient and save money. It is called the Multi Family Building Efficiency program and it is a great, free tool that qualifying property owners should take advantage of.

To qualify, a building must have:

  • Five or more units

  • Electric service through Xcel Energy

  • Natural gas service through CenterPoint Energy or Xcel Energy

  • Has common entrance, common areas, and in-unit kitchens

It all starts with a free full-service energy efficiency audit. Qualified energy experts will conduct an audit of your entire building, including resident units and common areas, and will make suggestions on how to make it more energy efficient. Then, Xcel Energy will offer you rebates and bonus incentives to make those improvements.

After you complete an upgrade identified in the energy efficiency audit, program staff will work with you to gather the required documentation and then submit the rebate application to the utilities on your behalf. Xcel recommends completing as many energy-efficiency upgrades as possible within two years to maximize your incentive.

The program offers:

  • A free full-service energy-efficiency audit, conducted by an experienced expert.

  • A thorough report of findings and recommendations on ways to improve your building's energy efficiency.

  • No-cost installation of energy-saving equipment throughout common areas and resident units.

  • Brochures for your residents that contain important energy-saving tips.

  • Implementation support and guidance.

  • Rebates and bonus incentives for making energy-efficiency upgrades throughout your building.

  • Additional 30% BONUS incentive, to rebates earned, on market-rate multi-family housing.

  • Additional 60% BONUS incentive, to rebates earned, on qualified affordable multi-family housing.

  • Reduction of energy usage leading to long term savings and improved comfort of building residents.
